2026- What I’ve Learned- AFC East
We’re about a third of the way through the fantasy regular season, here’s what I’ve learned so far in the AFC East.
AFC East
Buffalo
Breaking news…Josh Allen is awesome! How’s that for fantasy analysis? To no one’s surprise Allen has been dominant as usual. At RB, James Cook has been a star with 6 TDs and over 600 yards in 6 games…...Meanwhile at WR, D.J. Moore has been fighting an injured shoulder. Drafters would like a mulligan with their Moore pick. He was going in the 5th round in drafts and so far, it hasn’t panned out. Moore’s injury has opened up playing time for Keon Coleman. Keon has become relevant in larger leagues with 3 TDs the last three weeks. Coleman wasn’t the only one to emerge. We’ve seen signs of life from TE Dalton Kincaid. Kincaid started out on fire- with 225 yards in the first two games, but he’s cooled off lately. I was out on Kincaid this year. He’s burned me in the past. Injuries diminished his effectiveness, but the young TE is finally showing some of the vast, untapped potential. He’s currently the 10th highest scoring TE in Half-Point PPR.
N.Y. Jets
Geno Smith hasn’t been a world beater, that’s for sure. In six weeks he only has 7 TDs. But his steady play has helped turn the Jets into a functional offense. Considering where they’ve been the last several years, that’s a huge improvement. Despite Breece Hall’s talent, I was out on him in 2026. He always seems to get injured or wear down. I was unwilling to pay his 3rd round price tag. Unfortunately for Hall owners, he’s banged up again with a right quadricep injury. Hall’s absence has created an opportunity for Braelon Allen. The former Badger was one of my sleepers. He could start for plenty of teams, but he’s a backup in New York. Allen has size, good speed, and is adept at catching passes. He’s been the bell cow for the Jets and a nice pickup for fantasy owners who took a late round flyer on him……At WR, Garrett Wilson is off to a good start. He’s currently the 11th highest scoring WR in Half-Point PPR…..Rookie TE Kenyon Sadiq burst on the scene in week 3 with a big game versus the Lions, but has been quiet since. The first-round pick has a bright future ahead of him. The Jets’ offense has some star power to make some fantasy noise if they can stay healthy.
New England
Whoever coined the phrase “Any Given Sunday” wasn’t kidding. In week three, the Patriots got smoked by the Jaguars, much to the delight of Jefferson, and the next they pull off a shocker in Buffalo. They’ve come on lately as has their star QB Drake Maye. Maye has been scorching hot with 11 TDs in his last three games….At RB, it’s been mainly Rhamondre Stevenson toting the rock, but it hasn’t been earth shattering. I thought with TreVeyon Henderson’s ankle injury Stevenson had a chance to light up the fantasy scoreboard, but that hasn’t happened. Henderson is back, but I’m skeptical how healthy his ankle truly is. It takes high ankle sprains a long time to heal. Even before the injury, I was out on Henderson. His struggles in pass protection were a major cause of concern for the Patriots’ coaching staff this past summer who know their only chance of success hinges on Drake Maye’s health…..WR A.J. Brown was one of the biggest moves in the offseason, but those hopes were quickly dashed in week one. Brown suffered a high ankle sprain of his own. I doubt he’ll be 100% the rest of the season. His first game back against the Jets saw him commit three drops. During Brown’s absence, Romeo Doubs and Demario Douglas made some noise. Unfortunately, Doubs is on the injured reserve with a shoulder injury…. At TE, Hunter Henry has been okay. He’s been TD dependent for his fantasy success.
Miami
One of my strategies for drafts in August was to avoid Dolphins’ players at all cost. The new coaching staff, new offense, new personnel, etc. were just too many moving parts for me to invest in. So far, that strategy has paid off. Malik Willis was Miami’s big free agent signing. I thought it was a risky move given how much they paid and how little game experience Malik has had. Willis has only 4 TDs in five games. At RB, Devon Achane was one of my bust picks. Unfortunately, Achane is out for the year with a torn ACL. Prior to his injury, Achane struggled mightily…..The Dolphins WRs haven’t done much either. It’s hard to do much when your QB has only thrown for 2 TDs….TE Greg Dulcich was a popular sleeper for many analysts, but not for me. He burned me in Denver with his inability to stay healthy. He’s struggled, along with the rest of the Dolphins’ pass catchers. Miami is one of the worst teams in football, and it wouldn’t shock me if they’re the first team on the clock in next April’s Draft.
