Week 5- WestGate Supercontest Picks

***Disclaimer- these picks are for fun and to see how bad I do. If you wager - only bet what you can afford to lose. Always assume you’re going to lose. Never risk the mortgage, rent, or your kid’s college education. There is NO such thing as a sure thing- especially with my lousy picks. If you risk more than you can afford and lose- that’s on you. I told you so! In the Supercontest - you must pick 5 games each week- whether you like them or not. I may not like some games but I still have to pick 5 so keep that in mind. Their rules not mine.

The 2018 winner beat out 3,122 other participants. Typically it takes around a 65% winning pct to have a shot at winning it all. In 2018 the winner went 70% against the spread- just unbelievable! Anyway I just want to do this for fun and see how it goes.

Week 4 Results 1-4

Well that went well. My hot streak hit a cold front- I went 1-4 and my only winner was ironically the Seahawks. Really the Seahawks? Someone upstairs is laughing at that one. The Patriots came out of the box strong, but couldn’t put them away and a missed extra point cost me a push. I don’t have any answers - this was a baffling week. When Tampa goes on the road and puts up a 55 spot vs Rams we’ve entered the Twilight Zone folks. I didn’t even pick the Rams that’s how nuts of a week it was. Now you know why I put in the disclaimer before my picks- because while when I’m on I’m on- however when I’m off I’m off.

Season Results 13-7

The Steelers have to turn around on a short week and this time they play a real offense. Lamar Jackson will be much more formidable than the Bengals injury ravaged line. Give me the Ravens. Washington’s offensive line will have their hands full with the Patriots defense. This shouldn’t be close if their D shuts down the Skins like I think they will. If Indy struggled defensively at home versus the Raiders God help them on the road in Kansas City. This could get ugly. I’ll take the Chiefs. Tennessee hosts a tough Bills squad. Bills starting QB Josh Allen is recovering from a concussion. Even if he plays he’ll have to tone down his running if he wants to avoid a relapse. Give me the Titans at home. Finally I’ll go with the Vikes on the road. They need this one and despite Danny Dimes providing hope for Giants fans their defense is still a work in progress. Cousins and Cook should get right here. The other game I’m eyeing is Philly -13.5, but I’d only consider it if Sam Darnold is ruled out. That’s still a big number- not even sure I’d pick them so we’ll go with the Vikes for now.
